Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking flagship projects from the perspectives of Mechanical/Mechatronics technology.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conceptual design of complex electromechanical systems
- Design and prototyping of mechanical and electrical hardware for robotic systems
- Design of control frameworks for those
- Blueprint drafting, negotiating with vendors/manufacturers
- Control software implementation for hardware testing
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Background in robotics (MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering or mechatronics)
- Excellent understanding of theoretical mechanics
- Experience of designing complex mechanisms (robot manipulators, parts of those, other high-DOF mechanisms)
- Experience of designing electrical circuits
- Rich experience of designing mechanical parts using CAD, drafting blueprints and manufacturing those
- Good understanding of robot control algorithms
- Experience of implementing control software in C++/Python is a plus
- Experience of using middleware such as ROS is a plus
Other Required Knowledge
- The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness in learning Japanese. Japanese language skills are a plus.
