Austin is an AI engineer on the AI Ethics team at Sony AI. He builds machine learning infrastructure to support AI Ethics research projects. Prior to joining Sony AI, he was a machine learning engineer at the Berkeley Existential Risk Initiative (BERI) nonprofit, where he developed open-source AI safety and fairness software. Before BERI, Austin worked as a software engineer in a neuroscience lab at Princeton University. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Davis.
