Sony AI is seeking a highly motivated, dedicated individual with expertise in Machine Learning and/or AI for chip design for a 6-month internship. We’re looking for brilliant, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world-renowned researchers as we push the boundaries of applying AI to support human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking flagship project in AI for Chip Design.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Contribute to projects related to the design, verification, and integration of digital systems in the context of image sensors
• Depending on the interests and background, potential projects could involve ;
      - Using AI models to assess and improve the design of digital image processing algorithms for better image quality and yield
      - Develop and apply LLM agents for hardware design and verification
      - Develop and implement ML methods for floorplanning and routing.
• Write reports and give presentations for internal audiences
• Publish papers on top-tier venues
• Write code to support research using common machine learning tools, e.g. pytorch, jax
• Work closely with a team of AI researchers and engineers in Switzerland, and Japan on ambitious AI projects

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Background in machine learning / NLP (BSc., MSc.) and relevant knowledge
• Some familiarity with hardware chip design processes
• Either experience in training vision models and using modern vision feature such as Dinov3 or knowledge of brand new methods in LLMs for code generation is a plus
• Some work experience post-degree is a plus
• Good programming skills using python
• Excellent oral and written English
