Profile

Alessandra is a research scientist in SonyAI based in Zurich. Starting her career as a physical engineer, she saw a need for a methodological approach to science. This prompted her to pursue a Master of Science in Mathematical Engineering. Alessandra went on to work at IBM Research, which inspired her to earn a Ph.D. from ETH Zurich, where she combined AI (natural language processing) and Chemistry to solve the complex problem of Retrosynthesis. The IBM RXN for Chemistry project she participated in received the Sandmeyer 2022 award.

Message

I focus on hypothesis generation for scientific applications, empowering scientists with new discovery ideas. I have extensive experience with natural language processing and I am really fascinated by reinforcement learning. I look forward to leveraging my experience and that of my team at Sony AI to accomplish our goals.
