Semin Kwak is an experienced Research Scientist with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in prediction, machine learning, and optimization. He earned his master's and bachelor's degrees with full scholarships from the Korean government, awarded to excellent students.
Prior to join Sony AI, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Southern California and EPFL, where his research focused on neural networks on graphs, signal processing, and traffic forecasting.

I am currently a Research Scientist at Sony AI's Zurich office, where I am a member of the AI on Chip Design team. My expertise lies in applying AI to automate and accelerate the process of designing semiconductor chips, which are essential components in all modern electronic devices. The goal is to develop faster and more accurate approaches to chip design, helping to reduce the time and cost associated with this complex process. I believe that AI-powered automation will not only enhance productivity but also unlock new avenues for innovation, allowing engineers to focus on more creative aspects of design and push the boundaries of what's possible in the field of electronics.
