Tokyo, Japan – September 26, 2024 – Pete Wurman, Deputy President of Sony AI, has been inducted into the Logistics Hall of Fame for his pioneering work on the Mobile Robotic Fulfillment System. Wurman was recognized alongside his co-inventors Mick Mountz and Raffaello D'Andrea.
The Mobile Robotic Fulfillment System was invented to minimize issues encountered in inflexible intralogistics systems. With this system, mobile transport robots (Autonomous Mobile Robots) can continuously move stock on shelves from storage areas to picking stations.
Because of this groundbreaking technology contribution, Wurman, Mounts, and D’Andrea were selected for this recognition by an expert panel of 70 well-known personalities from the business, science, politics, and media sectors in 13 nations.
This is Wurman’s second Hall of Fame induction. He was named as a member of the 2022 National Inventors Hall of Fame class for the same contribution.
